Scott Buck

Scott works from a person-centered framework that emphasises collaboration, trust and a deep respect for client autonomy throughout the therapeutic process. His non-judgemental approach creates a safe and non-pathologizing atmosphere. Scott is aware of the intersectionality between structural factors and mental health and trauma, and he considers the impact of these broader dimensions when working with individuals and couples. Scott has experience working with individuals from marginalized communities of varying cultures, races, religious backgrounds, and sexual orientations.

Scott MA in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Scott adopts a trauma-informed approach to counselling and he incorporates interventions from strength and resilience-based therapy, solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural/dialectical behaviour therapy, emotion focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and the developmental model of couples therapy. He is also experienced with mindfulness-based practices. As a former fitness professional, he has an understanding of the role nutrition and physical activity play in the onset and maintenance of mental health conditions. Scott works with clients experiencing a variety of issues including depression, anxiety disorders, survivors of abuse and neglect, substance overuse, identity issues and personality disorders.
